Bolyki Indián Nyár
www.lidl.ie
Hungary has a long and proud winemaking history. In the Middle Ages, the sweet wine of Tokaji was famed throughout Europe and known as The wine of Kings, the King of Wines. This region in the north-east still makes some of the countrys best white wines and these days many of them are dry: a top producer of this style is the Patricius winery, whose Dry Furmint we are pleased to feature in this selection. Two of the reds here are also particularly noteworthy: the Bolyki Indián Nyár is a very tasty modern take on the traditional Bulls Blood, made by the charismatic János Bolyki in astonishing quarried cellars near the historic town of Eger. The Szent Gaál Bikaver is a fine, blended red from the region that is producing the countrys finest reds, Szekszard. With wine prices increasing in most western Europe wine countries, Hungary is becoming an increasingly good value source of good wine - well worth trying!
