MARECHAL Gevrey-Chambertin AOP 2014

R. Bampfield One of the grandest names in Burgundy, Gevrey-Chambertin has long been ranked as one of the worlds great wines and features on the wine lists of most top restaurants. It is regarded as a perfect expression of the wonderful Pinot Noir grape, combining ethereal perfume with depth, length of flavour and the ability to improve with age. This one has typically expressive aromas, with echoes of strawberry and violets and just a hint of toasty oak in the background. It boasts great purity of fruit and epitomises the finesse over power style that is the essence of top Burgundy. Already drinking well, it will improve over the next couple of years. Hard to imagine a more enjoyable match with the Christmas turkey.
